I’ve been very deliberate in the last week about spending time on the world wide web looking and eating up inspiration, particularly because I’ve got a list of a few things that need a makeover. Here’s some that caught my eye in the last 24 hours.

Type Connection. The typographic dating game.

The stunning, genius work of Aura Seltzer and something else to take a few moments away from whatever is making you crazy at the moment, especially if you’re a bit of a typography freak like me.

Do it.

Okay, let’s talk about The September Issue. I have no idea why it took me so long to watch it but since getting it out four days ago, I’ve seen it three times and it’s been a head explosion every single time. Don’t even get me started on how much I love this jump shot from the film. Genius.
At work, the magazine editor, graphic designer and I have decided that all creative decisions shall now be dealt with by simply asking: What would Anna do?

All the footage of our work project has come in and it’s review time. There’s about 10 hours of video to watch and it seems our joking it would be longer than the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy has, in fact, turned into reality.

In a case of intense multi-tasking, we’re picking out sound, graphics and colouration that needs fixing. All whilst carefully keeping an eye out on the manual we’re designing with Punctuation Police glasses. All those stray double spaces, unnecessary semi-colons, orphans, odd line spacing and awkward paragraph breaks have to go.

It must be taking a toll because my body crashed today and I spent most of my afternoon in bed, taking back-to-back naps. So, cheers. Cheers to productive weeks and lazy Saturdays!

Oh, yes. These photos. Have I told you how much of a, as my friends call me, Font Monkey, I am? I love type. Oh, yes, I do!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Ira Glass quote that I posted not too long ago. After a rather lengthy pause, wondering how I was going to produce a ‘volume of work’, I was excited to think back and realise I am well on my journey, having actually churned out a reasonable collection of bibs and bobs already.

Much of it is not worth shouting about at all but it’s so comforting to know that I’ve started. I’ve decided to become more deliberate as a creative, to try my hand at a variety of my favourite things. So, I’m going to keep sharing the bibs and bobs of experienced creatives which have caught my eye and inspired me.

Here’s a couple from this week. Happy Sat Sat Saturday!

Thanks to these gorgeous photos + invites, I’m so inspired for the chunk of designing I’ve gotta get done over the next few days! No, they’re not Save The Dates (I wish!) but inspired nonetheless!
Happy April!
